Our audio-visual solutions
Audio-visual solutions are crucial for education systems, allowing lecturers to educate a large number of people in one area. Having reliable and effective audio-visual systems can make all the difference to students. Digital Fabric has a long and rich history with the Universities in South Africa. Starting with the Origins Centre Museum, which is located on the East Campus, we have maintained a strong working relationship with the University of the Witwatersrand for many years, designing and project managing audio-visual systems for many of the Universities’ new Science, Mathematics, Commerce and Medical buildings.

The newest South African universities
Sol Plaatje University and the University of Mpumalanga are two of South Africa’s newest universities. Both brought unique requirements, and a wide selection of architects were employed to bring diversity to the scratch-built campuses. This resulted in the need for tailormade solutions for each building, challenging the Digital Fabric team to provide bespoke audio-visual solutions to over 40 buildings, including unique auditoria, laboratories, classrooms, boardrooms, dining halls, and indoor sports facilities. Digital Fabric continues to provide services to these institutions as new facilities are added.
University of Stellenbosch
Most recently, Digital Fabric were brought on-board to assist the University of Stellenbosch with the major task of planning the extensive upgrade of lecture venues to include distance learning. This mammoth project required a rapid design approval, proof of concept, and the design of bespoke racks and lecturer stations that made the implementation phase more of a bolt-on process, including pre-made cable looms. A great deal of pre-planning around time saving devices and processes have been considered to minimize the downtime of venues during the implementation phase. This project is in currently in process.
